What BAH Actually Covers in 2026

The 2026 BAH rate for an E-5 with dependents compared against local market rents and home values in all 290 US military housing areas with data. Includes where the allowance stretches furthest and shortest, and the buy-versus-rent breakeven at every base.

Headline: in 260 of 290 housing areas (90%), BAH does not cover the cost of owning the median local home.
